Originally published as an American humor magazine called "The Yellow Kid," Ainslee's became a colorfully illustrated story magazine aimed at women. It was an important pre-cursor to the romance pulps of the 1920s and '30s. Contributors: Stephen Crane, Theodore Dreiser, Bret Harte, O. Henry, Jack London, P.G.
